Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist

Welcome to The Lifelong Athlete!

My name is Bo Hickey and I am a sucker for human performance. What is human performance you ask? This can take shape in the form of a new masters swimming national record or a grandmother who can hold a deep squat while playing with her grandkids.

When I was young, I had some limitations when it came to hearing and walking. My parents were often told, “your son can’t” or “no.” These moments have had a lasting impact on my life. I understand how frustrating it is to feel limited. While this happened to me in my youth, it has been a foundational experience for me to want to help athletes of all ages work through limitations and achieve a new level of performance success.

Living life with an injury or fear of quickly slowing down as you age can have an impact on both your physical performance and also the mentality to keep it going. Having experience with limitation firsthand, my proudest accomplishments are successfully showing others that they can navigate perceived limitations and achieve a new level of performance.

How? On the homepage of The Lifelong Athlete, you might’ve noticed the two phrases of “perform well” and “feel great.” This is the exact approach I like to take with each client who trusts me with their training.

Perform Well: Even if you're a seasoned athlete, there are small tweaks that we can make to help you soar past a plateau or drought in performance progress. Whether you're 18 or 80, performance can still happen in many shapes and forms. Life is an athletic endeavor and I love seeing people strive for progress in the sports they enjoy across a lifespan.

Feel Great: At the end of the day, performance should not sacrifice health and well-being. Part of my training process is focused on teaching you how to rid yourself of nagging pain and potential for injury. By doing this, you get to move more freely, enjoy the activities you like and perform! Feeling great accounts for the big picture of life.

The best part is that these methods can be adapted for virtually anyone to utilize. The most effective route forward is through person-specific training, volume management, and exercise progression. If you feel limited in your abilities and have grown frustrated pain and injury getting in the way of your personal performance-related goals, you have found the right place.
